How we review listings

A directory is only worth reading if someone checked it. Here is exactly what we check, and what will get a listing removed.

Before a listing goes live

  • A real, reachable presence: a working website or public profile, a working contact method, and a stated service area.
  • Clear scope of practice. An advocate is listed as an advocate, an attorney as an attorney, an evaluator as an evaluator. We do not blur those lines.
  • Credentials that match the claim. Licensed roles must name the license and the state. Non licensed roles must not imply licensure.
  • Honest pricing language. Free, sliding scale, insurance based, or paid is stated. We do not require public rates, but we do require that paid is not disguised as free.
  • No guarantees of outcome. Anyone promising a specific result in an eligibility decision or a dispute is not listed.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell placement, ranking, or a badge.
  • We do not publish a number one pick or a best of ranking.
  • We do not pass your contact information to listed providers.
  • We do not accept a listing in exchange for a backlink.

Sources we rely on

For rights and process we use the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the federal regulations under it. For Texas practice we use Texas Education Agency guidance and Texas state rules. When those sources disagree with a provider's marketing claim, the source wins.

Why we remove a listing

  • Contact information stops working and is not corrected after we ask.
  • Credentials lapse, or a claim turns out to be inaccurate.
  • Marketing shifts to guaranteed outcomes or fear based pressure.
  • Repeated, specific reports from families that we can verify.
